How much does a car inspection cost in Portugal?
A single car inspection costs 150 EUR and includes: on-site visit in Greater Lisbon area, full 145-point checklist, paint thickness measurement of every panel, OBD computer diagnostics (if seller agrees), market analytics report, negotiation on your behalf, photo report and written conclusion. The full selection package at 450 EUR includes up to 3 inspections plus active car search across all platforms.
What does the 145-point checklist cover?
Our checklist covers: exterior (body geometry, paint condition, rust, glass, lights), tires and wheels (brand, age, wear, damage), interior (seats, dashboard, electronics, A/C), engine bay (leaks, belts, fluids, mounts), drivetrain (gearbox, clutch, differential), brakes and suspension (pads, discs, bushings, shocks), underbody (on lift: rust, exhaust, structural damage), OBD diagnostics (error codes, live data), and test drive (engine, gearbox, noise, vibration).
Do you inspect cars outside the Lisbon area?
Yes, we travel anywhere in Portugal. Inspections outside Greater Lisbon have a surcharge of 0.50 EUR/km plus working hours. We also offer flatbed transport to deliver the car after purchase. Our base is in Alcabideche (Cascais), 20 minutes from Lisbon center.
What languages do you speak during inspections?
Our team speaks Portuguese, English, Russian, and Ukrainian fluently. We negotiate with sellers in Portuguese and communicate with you in your preferred language. This is especially valuable for expats who don't yet speak Portuguese.
How fast can you inspect a car?
Usually same-day or next-day — in Greater Lisbon often within hours. Send the listing link on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the earliest slot right away.
Can I join the inspection remotely?
Yes — we call you live from the inspection: you see the car in real time and ask questions on the spot. You're also welcome to come along in person.
What does the report look like and when do I get it?
A PDF with a photo of every issue, paint-gauge readings and the OBD results. It's generated in our inspection app and lands in your messenger or inbox the moment the inspection ends — in English, Portuguese or Russian.
What if the car turns out to be bad?
That's the best outcome — you just saved thousands on a mistake. The report is yours to keep, and the turnkey package (€450) gives you up to 3 inspections plus an active search — we find the next candidate for you.
Do you help negotiate the price?
Yes. After the inspection we negotiate with the seller on your behalf, using the documented defects as leverage. Fee: 20% of the amount saved — if we don't get the price down, this part costs nothing. In the €450 turnkey package the negotiation is already included — no fee on the first €1,500 of discount.
Do you inspect electric cars?
Yes: on top of the standard protocol we run OBD and, on supported models, measure battery health (SOC/SOH) — the single biggest factor in an EV's value.
Do you inspect the car on a lift?
Yes — the lift/workshop block (17 extra points: underbody, leaks, suspension and brakes from below) costs +100 € on top of the base price and is agreed with us in advance. Lift availability is arranged by the client or organised by us.
Is there a surcharge for urgent inspections?
Usually not. A surcharge of up to +100 € applies only when the inspection is urgent and falls in peak traffic hours, when the drive takes twice as long. We always tell you upfront — you decide whether to wait for a normal slot or go right away.
