⚠️ Where leaving sellers get burned
- Never hand over the car before the ownership transfer (registo) is filed — until then fines, tolls and the annual IUC are legally yours
- The buyer "will do the paperwork later" is the classic trap — insist on registering the transfer together, it can be done online the same day
- Cancel or transfer your insurance only after the registo is confirmed
- A car with a loan or lien (penhora) on it cannot be transferred — clear it first

How fast can you buy my car?
Timing depends on the vehicle details, condition, documents and availability. Send your planned departure date so we can discuss what is feasible before making commitments.
Can you sell my car after I've already left Portugal?
Yes — that's the consignment route. We agree the terms and a power to act, you fly, we sell and transfer the money to your account, wherever you are.
What documents do I need?
The DUA (registration document), your ID/NIF, and loan clearance if the car was financed. If something is missing, tell us — most gaps can be fixed before you leave.
My car is still on foreign plates — can you help?
A foreign-registered car can't simply be sold on the Portuguese market. Message us with the specifics — depending on the case we'll tell you honestly whether matriculating, selling abroad or scrapping makes more sense.
